lately.

loving:
pitch perfect. y'all, you have probably seen me talking about it on twitter and tumblr, but if i can't talk about it on every from of social media then what is the point of this. it is....literally...so good. i saw it twice in one week (once with kate, once with nick) and it's still nOT ENOUGH. go see it if you haven't. go.

reading:
the casual vacancy, kind of. guys TO BE HONEST i am having a hard time getting into it? i'm not very far into it so i don't think i can accurately judge, but. have any of you read it? what do you think of it?

watching:
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER.

anticipating:
MY CRUUIIIISSSEEE!!! i leave in TWO. DAYS. (it'll be pretty quiet over here (though....isn't it usually? oops.) but there will be something happening over on my tumblr, as always.) also, my birthday. in exactly 7 days.

listening to:
50% pitch perfect soundtrack, 50% taylor swift's new single(s)

working on:
fitting all my clothes into one carry on suitcase. why must i always overpack.

wishing:
i didn't have to take a test in my nutrition class tomorrow. it's the only thing standing in the way between me and birthday week!

lately.

1. took the kids to the museum on friday. fours years and counting, and they're still my favorite kids on earth.

2.  "sometimes i think we're alone in the universe, and sometimes i think we're not. in either case the idea is quite staggering." -arthur c. clarke

3. OKAY SO on saturday night kate and i decided that we should rent a bad movie and spend the night making fun of it (we started this tradition with the movie abduction.) so we rented this LOL movie. and y'all, i did not lol. some of you may have seen the mini live tweet of it, but at some point we had to just stop because there were not even words anymore. i'm torn between telling you to see it to understand what i mean, and advising you to stay the heck away from it. i can't decide. but let me know if any of you have seen it/watch it in the near future.

4. this love of mine.

in other news, i will not know what to do with myself when the olympics are over. i have not watched other television in days. why would i?! i just love the olympics. it's the one time every four years when my mother and i pretend like we know everything about every sport. "SHE WAS BELOW BY .233, ESSENTIALLY THAT FLOOR SLIDE." i cry at every awards ceremony, even when the us doesn't win. i try to watch it alone whenever possible. i am just too emotional.

hope you're having a great start to your week!

monday thoughts.

happy monday!
(this picture has nothing to do with this post, i just like it.)

you know what i'd like to talk about today? the mtv movie awards.
now, let me first say that i don't normally watch the mtv movie awards. normally, i try to avoid most things on mtv. but this year was different, because josh hutcherson.

guys, after i watched the mtv movie awards, i remembered why i don't watch the mtv movie awards.

highlights:
-josh hutcherson
-that incredible archery thing with jj abrams, jen lawrence and joel mchale.
-emma stone and andrew garfield. if they ever break up it will be the end of me.
-harry potter finally winning something. i get that we're all into whatever movie is huge that year, but the fact that harry potter has gotten such little recognition is baffling to me.
-emma stone winning that trailblazer award. there are few women in hollywood i like more than emma
-the perks of being a wallflower trailer.

lowlights:
-the winners of best kiss and best movie. i rolled my eyes so hard i think it might have been audible.
-russell brand. i don't always dislike him, but all those jokes about short marriages just made me second hand embarrassed. also, what material were his pants made out of?
-kristen stewart's acceptance speech for best kiss. girlfriend, no. even she knew it was going nowhere fast.

after the mtv movie awards i decided to keep making bad decisions because, why not, and i turned on the last 30 minutes of the Miss USA pageant.
i really enjoyed how miss ohio (? can't remember, too lazy to google it) used julia roberts' character in pretty woman as a strong example of women in film.
i mean............
(spoiler alert if you haven't seen pretty woman. she's a prostitute.)

did you watch either of these events last night?
or did you make better decisions than i did?
let's chat.

this week.

1. i've been housesitting for the last 10 days, and i've watched a lot of revenge and a lot of say yes to the dress. i've missed days of not getting dressed and watching hours of tv.

2. paige is home from ireland! paige is home from ireland!

3. i went to see the avengers...again. y'all, how is it possible that that movie is so good? i am incapable of talking about it without using dramatic hand gestures and talking at a louder-than-normal volume.

4. my chris evans situation is a little out of control.

5. nick and i decided to be super tourists, and went to the penny arcade in manitou, then drove to the top of pikes peak! oh, i like this boy.

6. this song is going to be the death of me. if you follow me on twitter you've probably seen my 2384972 tweets about it, but if you haven't listened to it yet, you're just doing it wrong.

7. i also went to see battleship. but in my defense, it was 100000% because of taylor kitsch. never gonna stop loving my tim riggins, y'all.

how has your week been, kids?

happy list.

1. guys, i've gotten to see quite a bit of my niece since i got home, and i have to tell you, there might not be a cuter kid on this planet. (on monday we went to the children's museum and i think i enjoyed it more than she did.)

2. i'm going to be reading the second fifty shades of grey book soon. and yes, i will be live tweeting it. i'm more excited than i probably should be. (if you don't want to be a part of it, bail now. no hard feelings.)

3. yesterday nick took me on my first ever trip to ikea, and it was about as close to perfect as i think life will ever get.

4. my mom and i have been cleaning out old boxes from when i was little, and y'all, i have found some serious treasures. in addition to my nintendo 64, gameboy color and 6th grade student ID, i have also found about 12 old diaries. my favorite one has just two entries in it, and legitimately, the second entry only says, "dear diary. i am leaving you to write in a different diary. no hard feelings. love, abbi."

5. last night's episode of parks and rec. no spoilers if you haven't seen it, but. i cried. (also, if you're not watching parks and rec i am on my knees begging you to watch it as soon as is humanly possible. aka like right now.)

....i'm unsure of how to end this post, so here's an old picture of me photoshopped in with the cast of degrassi.

what's making you happy lately?

show and tell.

happy wednesday, friends!
guess who's done with school.
THIS GIRL.

remember in kindergarten, when you had show and tell?
and there was always that one kid who brought in something extra awesome, like their new puppy, and suddenly what you brought in just wasn't as cool, and you were like, "IT'S COOL, I'LL JUST PUT MY HELLO KITTY STICKER BOOK AWAY."

well, today i would like to have a show and tell of things that have been occupying my time lately.

FIRST. this tumblr, fifty shades of suck.
if you follow me on twitter (god bless you if you do) then there is no way on this earth that you missed my live tweet of the book fifty shades of grey
you guys, if you like this book, please don't hate on me. because i gave it a chance. i really did.
and it was the most terrifying experience of my life.
well, about a third of the way through this book, i was pointed to this tumblr. and i haven't stopped laughing since.

SECOND. this shia lebeouf song.
why does this song exist?
i don't know.
why is it so popular?
i don't know.
why have i watched it 17 times in the last 4 days?
i don't know.
but it does and it is and i have.

THIRD. this daily grace video.

FOURTH. this trailer for that channing tatum stripper movie, which i like to call, Male Pretty Woman.

the actual name of it is magic mike.
you guys. why is it that i want to see this movie so much?
WHY?!
if i had never seen the trailer for it, and someone said "hey do you wanna go see this movie with me? channing tatum is in it and he plays a stripper and also matthew mcconaughey." i would say "no and please go away."
what i mean to say is, on paper it sounds like a recipe for disaster (at least for me.) ...BUT SOMETHING ABOUT THIS TRAILER IS MAKING ME WANT TO GO SEE IT OPENING DAY?
please tell me i am not alone.

FIFTH. my own show and tell wouldn't be complete without something actually having to do with me.
so here's a few recent snapshots.

what would YOU like to show and tell this week?

weekly loves.

HAPPY THURSDAY, Y'ALL.
thursday is my favorite day of the week.
know why? cause it's when the best shows are on tv.
and today is an extra special thursday, because i'm going to see the hunger games again!
(fourth time's a charm)

here are some things i've been loving this week.

this picture, taken by bff lauren.

and this post, that i have looked at more times than i care to admit.

this song. guys, i'm not even going to pretend to like i don't like the biebs. yeah, i went and saw never say never on opening day. yes, i have a justin bieber singing toothbrush. and since justin timberlake hasn't made music in like, AN ETERNITY, this is my justin fix for the year.

this tumblr. it's perfect.

this dress. i literally have a list of items from my closet that have, what i like to call, "MVP status" and this dress would definitely qualify. i'm hoping soon i'll find 72 dollars plus shipping in an old pair of jeans so that i can buy it.

this ring. y'all on a scale of 1 to 10 for needing this ring i am at an 11.

this girl.

this movie, that i bought at target for 5 bucks. we watched it over the weekend and i hadn't seen it in years. i have now watched it 3 times this week. i couldn't find it in the store at first, even though it said they had it online. when i asked the electronics guy he was all, "what section would it be in?" and i was like, "um...children and family." and when he walked me over there to look, he said, "i don't see it. but here's little rascals." AS IF THAT WOULD SUFFICE.

this interview. the good stuff starts around 18:56.

and finally, this video.

i've actually been watching it for weeks, but i'm still loving it this week as much as the first time i saw it.

...why is there so much justin bieber in this post.
